Reinstatement of Sanusi: Kano Gov Orders Arrest of Deposed Emir

Governor Abba Yusuf has ordered the arrest of Aminu Ado Bayero, one of the deposed emirs in Kano State.

Aminu Ado Bayero was until the amendment of the law that split the emirate into five the Emir of Kano.

The arrest order was contained in a Kano State Government statement signed by Mallam Sanusi Tofa,  the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House.

The order according to some Kano residents has however, caused an uneasy calm to envelope the ancient city.

The statement reads in part:

“The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has ordered the immediate arrest of the former Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, for creating tension in the stat

“The former Emir was smuggled into Kano city last night in an attempt to forcefully return to the palace two days after being deposed by the governor.”

“As the Chief Security Officer of the state, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has directed the Commissioner of Police to arrest the deposed Emir with immediate effect for disturbing public peace and attempting to destroy the relative peace the state enjoys.”

Reinstated Emir Sanusi II arrived Kano on Friday where Governor Yusy handed him a letter reinstating him as the 16th Emir of Kano. He was later accompanied to the Palace by the governor, deputy governor, Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, kingmakers and other top leaders of the Kano Emirate.
