Spanish giant, Real Madrid FC has sacked its Coach, Xabi Alonso after the team’s 3-2 loss to rival, Barcelona in the Spanish SuperCopa final on Sunday.
According to a statement issued on Monday, the Madrid management said that the decision was a “mutual” one between Alonso and the management.
“Real Madrid CF announces that, by mutual agreement between the club and Xabi Alonso, it has been decided to end his time as first team coach,”

“Xabi Alonso will always have the affection and admiration of all Madrid fans because he is a Real Madrid legend and has always represented the values of our club. Real Madrid will always be his home.
“Our club thanks Xabi Alonso and his entire technical team for their work and dedication during this time, and wishes them the best of luck in this new stage of their lives,” the statement read in part.
The former Spain midfielder was quoted to have said that the Super Cup was “the least” competition the team should worry itself about.
Real Madrid has seen its fortunes diminish in both the La Liga and the Champions League, a situation that has put the team on serious pressure from both fans the management.
