President Vladimir Putin of Russia earlier on Wednesday spoke with his US counterpart, Donald Trump in a telephone conversation that discussed possible ways of ending the war in Ukraine.
Reuters quoted Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov as confirming that President Putin has invited the US president to a meeting in Moscow.
The Kremlin spokesman also revealed that Putin and Trump discussed the Middle East, bilateral relations, Ukraine and a prisoner exchange between Washington and Moscow.
“The Russian president invited the U.S. president to visit Moscow and expressed his readiness to receive American officials in Russia in those areas of mutual interest, including, of course, the topic of the Ukrainian settlement,” Peskov said.
The spokesman further stated that, “Putin and Trump also agreed to continue personal contacts, including arranging a face-to-face meeting.”
The last time President Putin spoke to a US leader was back in February 2022 when he spoke to President Joe Biden on the phone shortly before ordering thousands of troops into Ukraine
