Presidential Election Tribunal to Deliver Judgement on Live TV on Wednesday in Tinubu’s Absence

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) has announced it will deliver judgement on the petition of the Labour Party (LP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) against the declaration of President Bola Tinubu as the winner of the April 25^th presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a five paragraph issued on Monday by the Registrar of the Court of Appeal, Umar Mohammed Bangari, the tribunal has also decided that the judgement will be televised live in a bid to “promote transparency and openness.”

The Presidential candidate of the LP, Mr. Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the PDP, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and the APM had challenged President Tinubu’s victory on various grounds including non-qualification of  Tinubu and various other electoral offences.

The Appeal Court has, however, indicated that only “accredited” persons will be allowed access into the Appellate Court premises.

President Tinubu will be in faraway India where he will be attending the G-20 summit. He is expected to spend six days.
