Ebonyi South Senate: I'll Call 25 Witnesses, Umahi Tells Tribunal  as Hearing Commences on Petition Filed by Linus Okorie

The much anticipated legal fireworks over the declaration of Governor David Umahi as the winner of the February 25, 2023 Ebonyi Senatorial elections on Thursday commenced at the Ebonyi State National Assembly Election Tribunal sitting at the Upper Grade 1, Court Kado, Abuja.

At the pre-hearing proceeding held today in Abuja the legal teams of Governor Umahi, Hon. Linus Okorie, the All Progressive Congress (APC), the Labour Party (LP), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) appeared before the Tribunal for the admission of all applications on the matter.

As part of the pre-hearing proceeding, the legal team of Governor Umahi led by his brother, Barr. Roy Umahi intimated the Tribunal that it shall provide 25 witnesses to prove that the outgoing governor of Ebonyi State won the election, while the teams of Hon. Okorie and INEC told the court they will present 14 witnesses respectively.

 

After a unanimous agreement by all the legal teams, the Tribunal adjourned the matter to May 30, for the adoption of all application on the matter in preparation for the full and speedy trial of the case.
