Hon. Ajang Alfred Illiya, a member of the House of Representatives from Plateau State has announced his defection from the Labour Party (LP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
His defection was announced on the floor of the House on Thursday during plenary by the Speaker, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen who presided.

Illiya represents Jos South/Jos North Federal Constituency. He was elected on the platform of the Labour Party. The Plateau lawmaker hinged his defection on the “crisis” rocking the Labour Party at the National Level.
Several lawmakers from opposition political parties, especially the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party have left their respective parties and all joined the ruling APC on the grounds of leadership tussles in the opposition parties.
