The Governors’ Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on security agencies in Nigeria to take the threats of the former governor of Rivers State and minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike against the group with seriousness
The advisement of the PDP Governors’ Forum was contained in a statement issued by the Director-General of the Forum, Emmanuel Agbo which warned that no individual should be allowed to cause crisis in any part of Nigeria irrespective of their political standing.
Wike last week boasted that he will fight any governor who supports Governor Siminalyi Fubara of Rivers state against him. said “I hear some governors who say they will take over the structure and give back to somebody, I pity those governors because I will put fire in their states,” Wike had said.
However, reacting, the PDP Governors maintained that they will not allow anyone to harass or intimidate any of their own.
Part of the forum’s statement reads, “The Forum has always maintained “a touch one, touch all” philosophy and individually and collectively stand by and support each other no matter the circumstances.
“A tradition Wike tremendously enjoyed in his days as governor.
“Thus, we, therefore, maintain that our position on the affairs of the PDP in Rivers State, as unanimously resolved at our 2024, 3rd, and 4th Meetings held in Enugu and Taraba states respectively, are not subject to review by any individual no matter how highly placed.”
Wike has been embroiled with numerous crisis both with the leadership of the PDP and Governor Fubara over the minister’s insistence that he remains the leader of the opposition PDP in Rivers State despite being a serving minister of the President Bola Tinubu led All Progressives Congress (APC) federal government.
The PDP has constituted a disciplinary committee to look into allegations of anti-party activities leveled against some members of the party including Mr. Wike.
