PDP Governors Endorse Damagun’s Sack, Affirm Ahmed Alaghi Yayari as Acting Chairman

Nine governors of the 13 governors elected of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have endorsed the sack of Illiya Damagun as the Acting National Chairman of the party.

In a virtual meeting on Monday, the governors maintained that Damagun must step aside to allow for genuine reconciliation and rejig of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

FACTSHEET reported that the PDP governors elected for a virtual meeting to ensure that uninvited interest do not crash the meeting as well as to allow governors make their frank contributions without any hindrances.

The governors at the virtual meeting also  unanimously endorsed the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Alaghi, the current PDP National Treasurer, as the new Acting National Chairman of the party.

 

The governors said that the move will strengthen party and give chance for the party to unite in the interest of Nigeria while also preserving the constitution of the party.

The governors who attended the meeting are, Governor Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers); Governor Douye Diri (Bayelsa); Governor Godwin Obaseki (Edo); Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori (Delta); Governor Agbu Kefas (Taraba); Governor Dauda Lawal (Zamfara); Governor Peter Mbah (Enugu); Governor Ademola Adeleke (Osun) and Governor Pastor Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom).

Pro-Wike governors led by Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State,  Ahmedu Fintiri of Adamawa State and  Caleb Mutsftwang of Plateau State have not made any counter suggestion.

The PDP governors also reaffirmed commitment to upholding the PDP’s constitution and resolving internal conflicts through formal party channels while emphasizing their dedication to the party’s progress.
