Orji Uzor Kalu, Ken Eze, Babangida Hussaini, Titus Zam Emerge Leaders of Senate Regional Comm C’tees
The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has announced leadership of Committees to oversight the recently created regional development commissions.
Akpabio who presided over the plenary as the Red Chamber reconvened after a two-week break to enable committees attend to the 2025 budget defense by Ministries, Agencies and Departments (MDAs) of the Federal Government also announced minor reshuffle in some committee leaderships.
Announcing the leadership of the new committees, Akpabiosaid, “Senator Babangida Hussaini and Senator Muntari Dandutse will serve as Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on the North West Development Commission.
“Similarly, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Senator Kenneth Eze have been appointed as Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on the South East Development Commission, while Senator Titus Zam and Senator Isa Jibrin will head the Senate Committee on the North Central Development Commission.
Those affected by the reshuffle of some committee leaderships include, Senator Abdul Ningi moved from Population to head the Senate committee on FERMA while Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan is the Chairman on Diaspora and Non-Governmental Organisation, she previously heads the committee on local content.
Others are, Senator Garba Maidoki as Chairman Senate Committee on Sports development, Senator Joel Thomas is the new Chairman Senate committee on Local Content, while Senator Victor Umeh is now the Chairman Senate committee on National Population and NIMC having been moved from the Senate committee on Diaspora
The Senate President commended his colleagues for their dedication to duty, praising their commitment as shown in the many the budget defense for various MDAs were dedicatedly conducted.
