one Injured as Explosion Rocks Abuja Suburb
A yet to be determined explosion has rocked the Dawaki area within Bwari Local Government Area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The explosion which occurred around 8.30 in the morning left one person seriously injured according residents.
Residents who were saw the explosion said it occurred in a one-bedroom apartment shared my two male occupants. It was further gathered that one of the occupants claimed that the explosion was caused by a cooking gas cylinder.
However, the residents were doubtful because they insisted there was “no gas smell” of any type at the scene of the explosion.
One of the residents who spoke to the media said, “We heard a loud blast sound within Dawaki. The noise emanated from a one-bedroom apartment with two male occupants. One of the occupants was injured and taken to the National Hospital, Abuja for treatment.”
“The second occupant alleged that it was a cooking gas explosion. However, there was no smell of gas, no fire, and the kitchen window (circled in the picture) was spared while other windows of the flat were damaged.”
Operatives of the Dawaki police station immediately stepped in have cordoned off the area as they carry out proper investigations.
Bwari Area Council has become a hotbed of violence with series of attacks and kidnappings increasing in the area.
