Olympics: Favour Ofili Advances to Women’s 200m Semi-Final

Nigeria’s Favour Ofili has secured a spot in the women’s 200m semi-final at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Ofili ran a season-best 22.24 seconds to win Heat 6 of the event, outperforming Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith and Gambia’s Gina Bass-Bittaye. Asher-Smith clocked 22.28 seconds, while Bass-Bittaye finished with 22.84 seconds.

This is Ofili’s debut at the Olympics. The 21-year-old was unable to compete in the 100m race due to administrative issues with the Athletics Federation of Nigeria and the Nigerian Olympic Committee. She expressed her frustration and called for accountability in a series of tweets on Tuesday.
