‘No Ransom Was Paid’ for Release of Kuriga Schoolchildren- Info Minister
The Federal Government has confirmed that no ransom was paid for the release of the 137 schoolchildren kidnapped on March 7 Kuriga community in Kaduna State.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mr. Mohammed Idris, told journalists after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) Meeting at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja on Monday.
The minister told journalists, “As promised by Mr. President, they have been rescued. No ransom was paid.”
“The President has also charged security agencies to make sure kidnappings are brought to a halt, and all the perpetrators of kidnapping will be fished out and punished.”
The minister was however silent on the whereabouts of the terrorists.
