NLC Picket Labour Party Headquarters, Demands Abure’s Sack
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), on Wednesday morning invaded the secretariat of the Labour Party (LP) and demanded the sack of the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure.
The NLC accused Abure of planning a “secret convention” without carrying along major stakeholders in the labour structure and a plan to perpetrate himself as the chairman of the party.
The planned June 2024 national convention of the party has generated a lot of controversies including pitching the LP caucus in the House of Representatives against Mr. Abure.
Recently Abure was accused of mismanaging campaign funds in the 2023 general elections.
As the NLC besieged the party office a detachment of the Nigeria Police were able to restore normalcy in the premises and prevented any damage on the property.
