Nigeria Commences Evacuation of Citizens from Lebanon

In response to the escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, the Nigerian government has begun preparations to evacuate its citizens from Lebanon. This decision was communicated through a press release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, signed by spokesperson Mr. Eche Abu-Obe in Abuja.

The Ministry emphasized that the Nigerian government has taken all necessary measures to ensure the safety and protection of its nationals in Lebanon. Regular advisories have been issued by the Nigerian Embassy in Lebanon, providing safety instructions and recommending voluntary evacuation while commercial flight options remain available.

Efforts have also been made to relocate Nigerians from the conflict-affected southern regions of Lebanon to Beirut and other safer areas in coordination with the Nigerian community’s leadership. Notably, the Ministry confirmed that no Nigerian lives have been lost since the conflict began.

The Ministry reiterated the government’s commitment to the safety of its citizens and assured that ongoing engagements with relevant stakeholders are in place to facilitate a smooth evacuation process.
