Governor Umar Bago of Niger State, on Tuesday sacked 30 Special Advisers (SAs) as he moves to restructure his government.
In a statement issued in Minna by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Bologi Ibrahim, the decision of Governor Bago was part of a comprehensive plan improve efficiency in line with the governor’s New Niger agenda.

Bologi explained stated that, “the termination of their appointment was to allow the governor to rejig and reposition their portfolios with a view to making them more effective and efficient in line with his New Niger agenda.”
Governor Bago last week hinted at imminent rejig of his cabinet saying that he had held back as a strategy to properly plan for the 2027 general elections.
Another close source to the governor who spoke to FACTSHEET on the condition of anonymity further dis closed that, “the governor has also penciled down some commissioners who would swap roles, while others may be relieved of their duties.”
