The Governors of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had a lengthy meeting on Tuesday night in Abuja of the lingering leadership crisis in the party.
The meeting which held at the Asokoro lodge of the Bauchi State Governor and the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Bala Mohammed also had members if the National Assembly, Board of Trustee (BoT), members and other critical stakeholders of the party in attendance.
According to a source who spoke to FACTSHEET on the condition of anonymity, the meeting deliberated on the planned National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party and the demand for the sack of the Acting National Chairman of the party, Illiya Damagun.
Several state governors including the host, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), and Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau) were in attendance in the meeting.
The source also disclosed that the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro led members of the National Assembly to the meeting.
The Acting National Chairman of the party, Illiya Umar Damagum, National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, National Organising Secretary of the party, Umar Bature, and the Secretary of the BoT, Senator Ahmed Makarfi were also in the meeting.
The source told FACTSHEET that the party leaders will brief journalists on Wednesday on the outcome of the meeting.
