NASS Commissioner, Festus Odii Pledges Support for NYO National Security Emblem

The Commissioner representing Southeast in the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC), Chief Festus Ifesinachi Odii has pledged his support for the Nigeria Youth Organisation on its push to encourage Nigerian youths to work against electoral violence and insecurity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

 

Chief Odii made the pledge at his office in Abuja on Tuesday when the NYO national executive led by its National Executive President, Comrade Okorie C. Okorie paid him a courtesy visit at the NASC Complex, Abuja.

 

Welcoming  his guests, Chief Odii thanked the NYO leadership for standing out as a credible youth organisation that is joining hands with Nigerian authorities to tackle the challenges facing the country, especially in the area of security. Chief Odii noted that, “ the youth is the present and future of every nation, and therefore, any youth interested in the security of the nation is a youth interested in prosperity, development and progress of the nation.”

Speaking further, Chief Odii also thanked the NYO for supporting the various patriotic programmes of the President Bola Tinubu led administration.

According to him, “ President Bola Tinubu in intentional about reviving the Nigerian economy from the base to the highest level.” Highlighting some of the critical areas of the government intervention, Chief Odii noted that, “ we can all see that the Naira is stablising in real time, especially as the oil and gas sector is recording major milestones as exemplified by the Dangote Refinery reaching full capacity of producing 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day, which means that a lot of forex can now be saved and invested in other sectors of our economy, including agriculture, local manufacturing and others.”

Chief Odii said that the “ stablisation of food prices is not an accident, but a real result of government policies.”

 

In his earlier address, NYO National Executive President, Comrade Okorie C. Okorie stated that the NYO has unveiled its 2026 national security emblem which centres on dissuading the youth from taking part in any form electoral violence as well as pledging to work with security agencies to strengthen Nigeria’s internal security.

 

Speaking on the strategic position of the NYO in Nigeria, Comrade Okorie stated that, “ to put the records straight NYO is the oldest youth organisation in Nigeria and as of today the most organised and well structured youth body in Nigeria with our chapters cut across the 36 states, the FCT, the six geo-political zones, the 774 LGAs and 8,809 wards of the federation.”

 

The 2026 Emblem of the NYO has the following inscriptions:

 

“COMMUNITY SECURITY; A Collective Responsibility of All Nigerian Youths.

 

“NIGERIAN YOUTHS, Operation Defend Your Community.

 

“As a Nigerian Youth, I declare my full support to the Nigerian Security Agencies in their fight against insecurity.
