More Trouble for Naira Marley, Lagos Court Orders His Production on Internet Fraud Trial

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the Nigerian Police to produce embattled music star, Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley in court over his ongoing internet fraud trial.

The presiding Judge, Justice Nicholas Oweibo issued the warrant on Friday.

Naira Marley is prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on the allegation of credit card fraud and sundry internet scams.

However, when the matter came up in the court on Friday, the entertainer was absent in court.

The lawyer to the musician, Mr. Olalekan Ojo SAN told the court that his client was not in court because he was in the custody of the Nigeria Police.

FACTSHEET reported that Naira Marley voluntarily submitted himself to the police for interrogation over the death of his record label signee, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as “Mohbad.”

The EFCC prosecutor, Bilkisu Buhari, prayed the court to issue a production warrant against the defendant to ensure his presence in court on the next adjourned date.

Before adjourning the matter, Justice Oweibo issued a warrant that the embattled musician be produced in court on October 30, for the continuation of his criminal trial.
