Lucky Aiyedatiwa Sworn-in as Ondo State Governor
The Acting Governor of Ondo State, Chief Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been sworn in as the the substantive governor of the state.
The swearing in follows the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu whos demise was announced earlier in the day.
The Ondo State Chief Judge, Justice Olusegun Odosola administered the oath of office at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s office in Akure.
Several family members, top government functionaries, senior judges and politicians from across the state were present to witness the swear-in ceremony.
Former Governor Akeredolu who died at the age of 67 had been ill for most part of the year prompting several political maneuvering including a failed impeachment proceeding against Aiyedatiwa.
Late Governor Akeredolu had suffered from leukaemia, and was at several times hospitalized in Germany for treatment.
When the former governor’s health relapsed, the mantle of leadership of Ondo State was finally vested on Aiyedatiwa on December 12, 2023 when he was sworn in at the Acting Governor of the state thereby ending the protracted political crisis that was rocking the state.
