Kogi Governor Freezes State, LGA Accounts

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has ordered immediate freezing of all state and local government accounts in the state.

The state’s Commissioner of Finance, Asiru Idris conveyed the governor’s directive via a statement on Thursday.

According the commissioner the governor directed that no payment should be made from the government account for from today.

“All Standing Orders and Investment Instructions are hereby Cancelled forthwith.

“All Kogi State and Local Government Accounts are hereby frozen with effect from today, Thursday 22nd November 2003,” the statement read in part.

There is no reason given for the action as at press time.
