Kidnapped ABSU Dpty Vice Chancellor, Released After 11Days
Prof Godwin Emezue, the kidnapped Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) of the Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu who was kidnapped on January 27 has regained his freedom.
Prof. Emezue was kidnapped in a petrol station in Umuahia, the Abia State capital where he had stopped in company with his wife to buy fuel on their way to their village for the Christmas festivities.
The abductor’s of the university teacher had requested for N50million as ransom before he could be released.
The kidnappers had collected the ATM cards of his wife at the petrol station before whisking him away.
A source from the ABSU who spoke to FACTSHEET said that the school and concerned family members of the professor contributed money to pay the ransom.
It has not been confirmed by both the police and the university administration how much was exactly paid for the freedom of the university teacher.
