Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has established a committee to investigate the recent fire at the Government House, also known as the Muhammadu Buhari House.
The fire, which damaged part of the complex, prompted immediate action from both federal and state firefighters to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading.
Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua, the Director of Press to the Secretary to the State Government, provided details in a statement on Monday. He noted that the fire affected the mini chamber adjacent to the Governor’s office but was successfully managed by the firefighters.
“The committee will also identify any lapses that may have contributed to the incident, recommend measures to prevent future occurrences, and make any other necessary recommendations,” the statement said.
The committee has been tasked with enlisting additional expertise as needed and is expected to submit its report within a week.
Panel members include the Head of Civil Service of the State, Commissioners for Works, Housing and Transport, Budget and Planning, Justice, Internal Security and Home Affairs, and Information and Culture, along with the Permanent Secretary I, Government House, and the State Commander of the Federal Fire Service. The Governor’s Office will provide the committee’s secretary.
The governor expressed confidence in the committee’s capability to conduct a thorough investigation and offer recommendations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
