Kano Governor Scraps Office of the Chief of Staff, Sack SSG, 5 Commissioners

Kano State governor, Mr.  Abba Kabir-Yusuf  on Friday announced a major cabinet shakeup that saw him sack his Chief of Staff (CoS), Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and five commissioners.

Announcing the decision through a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, Governor Yusuf also disclosed that aside sacking Shehu Wada Shodagi as  the office of the Chief of Staff, the office was also summarily  scrapped. The SSG, Dr. Abdulahi Baffa Bichi was let go on health ground.

The sacked commissioners are Ibrahim Jibril Fagge, (Finance Ministry), Ladidi Ibrahim Garko (Culture and Tourism), Baba Halilu Dantiye , (Information and Internal Affairs), Shehu Aliyu Yammedi (Special Duties),  and Abbas Sani Abbas (Rural and Community Development).

The statement also announced the reassignment of some  commissioners while others retained their portfolios.

Those who retained their portfolios include, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Isa Dederi, Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Danjuma Mahmoud, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran, Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Abduljabbar Mohammed Umar, Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Musa Suleiman Shannon and Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Marwan Ahmad

Others include, Commissioner for Solid and Mineral Resources, Sefiyanu Hamza; Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Shiekh Ahmad Tijani Auwal; Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso; Commissioner for Investment and Commerce, Adamu Aliyu Kibiya; and that of Internal Security and Special Services, Mohammad Inuwa Idris.

The reassigned commissioners are, the Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdulssalam who is moved from Ministry of Local Government to Higher Education, Mohammad Tajo Usman moved from Science and Technology to Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata from Higher Education to Science, Technology and Innovation ministry.

Ms. Amina Abdullahi was also reassigned from the ministry of Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation to Ministry for Women, Children and Disabled, Nasiru Sule Garo from Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to Ministry of Special Duties Commissioner for Project Monitory and Evaluation, Ibrahim Namadi now moved to Ministry of Transport, while Umar Haruna Doguwa of Ministry of Education now moved to Ministry of Water Resources.

The list concluded with the reassignment of Ali Haruna Makoda from Water Resources to Ministry of Education, Aisha Lawal Saji from Ministry of Women, Children and Disable to Tourism and Culture, while Muhammad Diggol from Transport to Ministry of Project Monitoring and Evaluation.
