Kalu Condemns Senseless Killing of 16 Travellers in Edo, Calls for Justice

 

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu has condemned in strongest terms the gruesome mob attacks that resulted to the death of 16 travellers from the Northern part of the country at Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State.

In a statement, Kalu described the killing as barbaric, saying that it is a grave violation of human rights and should not be tolerated.

He urged the security agencies to immediately heed the directives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Commiserating with the families of the victims, the Deputy Speaker also called for calms, assuring that justice will be served on the matter.

He said: “I am deeply disturbed by the tragic and barbaric killing of 16 travelers in Uromi, Edo State. This heinous act is a grave violation of human rights and must not be tolerated. I strongly condemn this senseless and unlawful violence.

“I urge all law enforcement agencies to act swiftly, as directed by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to ensure that the perpetrators of this horrific crime are brought to justice. No Nigerian deserves to be brutally murdered. Every citizen has the right to move freely without fear or intimidation.

“In the wake of this tragedy, I urge all aggrieved citizens to remain calm, maintain peace and order, and refrain from any actions that could escalate tensions.

“My heartfelt prayers go out to the families of the victims who have lost their loved ones. May the Almighty God grant them the strength and comfort to endure this painful loss.”
