The Supreme Court has fixed Friday January 12, 2024 for the judgement on the appeal filed by Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, the Ebonyi State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the March 18, 2023 governorship election in the state against declaration of Hon. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Dr. Odii is challenging Nwifuru’s victory on the ground that the then Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly was still a card carrying and financial member of the PDP at the time he was nominated as the governorship candidate of the APC.
Both the Ebonyi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal in Lagos had upheld the election of Hon. Nwifuru.
The judgement slated for tomorrow is among six other judgements that will be delivered by the apex court, other governorship appeal that will be delivered include that of Kano and Plateau states.
Feelers from the office of the court registrar indicate that the court has restricted representation of all parties to only two lawyers.
