JUST IN: Senate in Closed-door Session on ‘State of Emergency’ in Rivers State

The Senate is currently in an executive session,  a precursor to the much anticipated debate on the declaration of state of Emergency on Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu.

 

The Senate on Wednesday shifted debate on on the motion sponsored by the Leader of the Senate,  Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (APC, Ekiti State) despite the fact that it was listed on the Order Paper.

Today’s debate is critical as the President has a constitutional mandate to get the approval of the National Assembly for the decision.

In the House of Representatives,  emotions rose on Wednesday when a motion on the matter was brought on the floor,  eventually the matter was suspended.
