President Bola Tinubu has signed the newly passed Electoral Act, 2022 (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill 2026 into law.
The two Chambers of the National Assembly on Tuesday passed the harmonised version of the bill which provides that votes be electronically transferred from the polling unit where there is network, but also makes provision for manual transmission of result where electronic transmission fails.

In the House of Representatives, FACTSHEET reported that opposition lawmakers staged a walkout due to the amendment of section 60 (3), demanding that there should be no provision for manual transmission of election results.
