The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abia State has suspended the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the party, Senator Adolphus Wabara.
Wabara, a former President of the Senate was suspended for one month on allegations of anti-party activities.
The suspension of the BoT Chairman was taken at the State Working Committee (SEC) meeting of the party held at Umuahia on Tuesday.
Moving the motion for the suspension of Senator Wabara, the State Treasurer, Barr. Chizurum Kanu premised his motion on a plethora of accusations and allegations of conducts that were inimical to the interest of the party that the former President of the Senate has been accused of. The motion was later seconded by the State Organising Secretary, Hon. Obinna Apugo Okey.
The SEC subsequently resolved to set up a seven-man disciplinary committee to look into the allegations levelled against the BoT Chairman.
Senator Wabara is an ally a former National Vice Chairman of the PDP in the Southeast zone, Mr. Ali Odefa. Ali Odefa was sacked after his ward suspended him from the PDP, his suspension was upheld by the Federal High Court. The former NVC was later summarily expelled from the party after a disciplinary committee of the party found him culpable of anti-party activities. The Zonal Youth Leader of the party, Hon Chidiebere Goodluck Egwu has since been appointed the substantive National Vice Chairman of the PDP, Southeast Zone.
