Construction giants, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has announced the appointment of Dr. Peer Lubasch as the company’s new Managing Director/CEO.
The announcement follows the resignation of erstwhile MD of the company, Dr. Lars Richter who according to company sources will be joining the international operations of the company.
According to a statement signed by the company’s secretary, Mrs Cecilia Madueke, she the resignation of Dr, Ritcher had been welcomed by the board of the company.
The statement indicates that the new MD’s appointment takes effect from October 16, 2024.
Earlier in a short statement, Dr. Richter indicated that the board of the company at its meeting accepted his request not to extend his contract.
He wrote, “Today, I look back on 15 years of service with Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, during which I had the privilege of working with many people in the company and mastered many challenges.”
In a statement shared on its social media platforms on Thursday, the company detailed the appointment and profile of the new CEO:
“Today, we announce the appointment of Dr. Peer Lubasch as the new Managing Director/CEO of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, effective 16 October 2024.
“Dr. Lubasch has made substantial contributions to a variety of sectors, such as infrastructure, services, and building, during his 28-year career in the construction industry. Dr. Lubasch’s extensive knowledge and experience of Nigeria, which he has acquired over the course of a significant portion of his professional journey, will be invaluable in his new position. His reputation as a visionary leader in the field has been further solidified by his successful tenure as Managing Director/CEO of Julius Berger International over the past two years.
“Our deepest thanks go to Engr. Dr. Lars Richter for his exceptional leadership and for steering the company through transformative growth over the last six years.
“Join us in welcoming Dr. Lubasch as we look forward to his leadership and the exciting future ahead.
“Dr. Peer Lubasch was born in Bad Schwalbach in 1977. He completed his concrete and reinforced concrete construction training at Bilfinger + Berger Bau AG in Wiesbaden before studying civil engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt and at the University of California in Berkeley, specialising in structuring engineering, concrete construction and IT. As part of his doctorate at the Institute of Structural Concrete at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Dr. Lubasch focused on issues surrounding the fatigue of pre-stressed reinforced concrete elements.
“Following that, Dr. Lubasch worked as a technical project manager for structural planning at an acclaimed engineering office in Darmstadt, before joining Julius Berger Nigeria Plc in 2010. In Nigeria, Dr. Lubasch took on a variety of management roles, most recently as the technical manager for the central / north region. In 2020, Dr. Lubasch switched to Julius Berger International GmbH in Wiesbaden and supervised the strategic reorientation of the company as head of the planning departments.
