Igbo Think-Tank Group, Nzuko Umunna Bids Farewell to Dr. Chris Asoluka in Glowing Tribute

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Igbo think-tank group, Nzuko Umunna has paid glowing tribute to one of its founding members, Dr. Chris Chigoziri Asoluka (Okwuruoha) who will be buried in his Ihiagwa Owerri country home on Thursday (today), July 24, 2025.

 

Dr. Asoluka, a quintessential intellectual, culture ambassador and an outstanding technocrat died on May 9, 2025 at the age of 70.

In a letter of tribute signed by Prof. Chinedu Nebo and Dr. Uju Agomoh, President and Secretary of Nzuko Umunna respectively, the organisation recounted the critical roles played by late Dr. Asoluka during the formative years of Nzuko Ummuna noting that though, “The great Iroko has indeed fallen, and the eagle has soared to eternal skies, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and truth.

 

 

According to the group, “Chris was dependable and always ready to serve at any request for service. He stood with us during the foundation days of Nzuko Umunna. He made the list of the first fifty pioneer resourceful Ndiigbo to join this noble organisation,”

 

Eulogizing the departed intellectual, the group stated that Dr. Asoluka was “a colossus who has left an indelible mark in the Southeast and Nigeria in general.

 

Dr. Asoluka during his lifetime was passionate about an Igbo nay a Nigeria driven by real patriots rooted in culture of integrity, service and patriotism.

 

Born  Ihiagwa Owerri, Imo State, Dr. Chris Chigoziri Asoluka was a polymath with multiples degrees from the Universities of Ibadan, Lagos and London. His interests spanned development matters, law, political science, Blue Economy amongst  other varied fields. He was also a politician and was elected to the House of Representatives where he co-chaired the Committee on Appropriation. He was a one time Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development in Imo State.

It is with profound sorrow that Nzuko Umunna mourns the passing of a visionary member, a colossus who has left an indelible mark in the Southeast and Nigeria in general. Chris was dependable and always ready to serve at any request for service. He stood with us during the foundation days of Nzuko Umunna. He made the list of the first fifty pioneer resourceful Ndiigbo to join this noble organisation( Pg 19, Nzuko Umunna Chronicles). This alone showed his desire for change amongst his kinsmen. During those days, his contributions assisted in the actualization of several projects and programs. The great Iroko has indeed fallen, and the eagle has soared to eternal skies, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and truth.

His selfless dedication to the pursuit of a united and prosperous southeast has earned him an eternal place in the annals of our nation’s history.

 

We mourn a man whose desire is to leave a legacy for generations to come. As Dr. Chris often says- “Leaving a legacy is about more than passing on physical assets – it’s a tapestry of wisdom, values, and contributions that spans generations. Creating a lasting legacy influences the lives of your children, grandchildren, and beyond.”

 

We pay tribute to this remarkable technocrat, a shining example of integrity, wisdom, and compassion. His passing leaves a gaping void, but his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

 

Nzuko Umunna extends our deepest condolences to Dr. Chris Asoluka’s family, friends, associates, Southeast, and the nation. We pray that his legacy continues to inspire future generations.
