The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC), on Tuesday confirmed receipt of a petition against the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Mr. Farouk Ahmed.
The petition submitted by the President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote accuses Ahmed of corruption.
On Sunday, Dangote in a press conference accused Mr Ahmed of spending $5million on his children fees at elite schools in Switzerland.
Dangote also accused the NMDPRA helmsman of economic sabotage against Nigeria.
Responding in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja and signed by the its spokesman, John Odey, the ICPC stated that “The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) writes to confirm that it received a formal petition today Tuesday 16th December, 2025 from Alhaji Aliko Dangote through his lawyer. The petition is against the CEO of the NMDPRA, Alhaji Farouk Ahmed.

“The ICPC wishes to state that the petition will be duly investigated.”
Dangote in the last few months has raised the alarm over the activities of some individuals and cartels within Nigeria’s oil and gas sector whom he accused of sabotaging the county’s economy for their own selfish ends.
Dangote’s $20 billion refinery has been locked in serious battles with players in the Nigeria oil sector, including labour unions.
Nigeria’s government owned refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna have remained inoperative and moribund for over 20years even after several multi million dollar Turn Around Maintenance (TAM). Successive governments in Nigeria including the President Bola Tinubu’s administration have at different times given dates for the restart of the refineries, but all the promises have failed.
