House of Reps Summons NNPCL Boss, Mele Kyari, Petroleum Minister Over Alleged Diversion of $72 Million
Mallam Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has been summoned by the House of Representatives over an allegation of illegal diversion of $72 million belonging to and indigenous oil services provider, De Coon Limited.
In a letter issued by the House Committee on Public Petitions on Monday seen by this newspaper, Mr. Kyari is summoned alongside, the CEO of Onado Nigeria Limited, Obiageli Okeke, key staff of Nigeria Agip Oil Company, including, The Managing Director, the General Manager District, the Division Manager (Strategic Procurement), Engr. Dan Jumbo (Senior Manager), Mr. Iyeh Ikechukwu, Mr. Tiani Alessandre, Mr. Daniele Casati, and Mr. Osakwe Lawrence.
Also summoned to testify are key officials of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum including the minister and the permanent secretary.
Others are, the Group CEO of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), NNPCL Staff, including Mr. Momodu Mohammed ( Team Lead Grc), NAPIMS, Mr. Kanayo Odor, Mr. Salisu Bakaro, Mr. Lanre Richard, Engr. Mohammed Ismailia; the Executive Secretary, Nigeria Content Development And Monitoring Board, and the Managing Director of Total E&P Nigeria.
The summon reads in part, “You are hereby required to note sections 88 and 89© of the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and appear in person before this committee on Thursday 20th June, 2024 at 2.00pm or soon thereafter as the committee shall direct.”
