Hope Uzodinma Wins Again
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma re-elected for a second and final term of four years as the Chief Executive of the Southeast state.
According to the results announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, Governor Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 540,308 votes to defeat his closest rival, Senator Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled scored 71,503 votes, while Mr. Athan Achonu of the Labour Party (LP) came 3rd with 64,081 votes .
Observers and members of the opposition political parties reported that the Saturday November 11 election was marred by irregularities including violence, vote-buying and alleged intimidation by thugs believed to be sponsored by the agents of the government.
Governor Uzodinma will be sworn in on January 14, 2024 for his second term.
