Group Partners NOA, Women Organisation to Create Awareness on Women, Girl-child Welfare in Ebonyi

A non- governmental organisation, Inspiring Generation and Humanity Support Foundation (IGHUSUF) Africa has launched a tripartite partnership with the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ebonyi State and the Oganiru Umunwanyi Ebonyi Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society Limited to engage series of advocacy programmes to promote the wellbeing of the women and the girl-child in Ebonyi State.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital on Friday 14th June 2024.

Speaking to journalists about the programmes lined up, the project coordinator, Comrade Darlington Onwe said that “the initiative focuses on community-based interventions across Izzi and Ebonyi Local Government Areas, utilizing community gatherings, festivals, town hall meetings, and worship centres to raise awareness and provide support services. Known as the “Community Crash Programme,” it emphasizes eradicating harmful practices and empowering women and girls through rights promotion and community capacity-building.

Explaining further, Mr. Onwe stated that, “This collaborative effort integrates principles from international frameworks such as CEDAW, the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), and the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda (UNSCR 1325). By piloting sustainable solutions, the partnership aims to catalyze societal transformation, ensuring the well-being and dignity of women, girls, and children in Ebonyi State.”
