Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has strongly denied allegations linking him to militant groups, describing circulating videos accusing him of inciting violence and economic sabotage as “fake and malicious.”
In a statement issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara urged security agencies to investigate the origins of these videos and take decisive action against those responsible for spreading falsehoods.
“Our attention has, once again, been drawn to a flurry of malicious, fake, and imaginary videos of purported explosions on oil and gas facilities in Rivers State,” the statement read. “The communities where these incidents are alleged to have occurred have already debunked the claims, confirming that all critical government assets in their areas remain safe, secure, and fully operational.”

Fubara stressed that he has no ties to any militant group and would never condone activities that threaten the state’s peace or economic stability. He reiterated that his administration prioritizes security and development, asserting that only in a peaceful environment can governance and progress thrive.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has no link to any militant group, does not contemplate any such association, and has no reason to encourage any criminal group or elements, anywhere in the state or Niger Delta, to undertake any action inimical to the peace of the people or safety and security of oil and gas facilities, and by extension, the economy of the country,” the statement continued.
Fubara further warned those spreading falsehoods online to desist from attempts to create unrest, especially amid the state’s ongoing political crisis. He called on security agencies to take immediate action against the culprits behind the fabricated videos designed to misinform the public and tarnish the state’s image.
“The governor had repeatedly made it clear at every public event that the peace of the state is paramount to him and that he would pay any price to secure and sustain peace in the state,” Chukwudi emphasized.
Fubara concluded by reassuring Rivers residents of his unwavering commitment to maintaining peace, security, and the protection of vital infrastructure across the state.
