The Chairman of the FCT Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Grace Ike has extended warm greetings to Nigerian Christians and Muslims as both faith commence the Lent and Ramadan seasons respectively.
In a message of felicitation issued in Abuja on Thursday, Comrade Ike enjoined Nigerians from both faith to work together in the pursuit for unity in Nigeria.
NUJ FCT Chairperson enjoined all to see the coincidence of the holy month as a reminder and divine call for Nigerians to work together in peace for the over all progress of the country.
Part of the statement reads:
“These solemn periods of fasting, prayer and reflection are powerful reminders of the enduring values of sacrifice, discipline, compassion and love for humanity. They offer us a unique opportunity to draw closer to God, strengthen our moral resolve, and recommit ourselves to peaceful coexistence and national development.
“At a time when our nation yearns for unity, stability and progress, I urge all adherents to use this holy season to pray fervently for Nigeria, for our leaders and for the continued peace and security of the Federal Capital Territory.”
She assured the public that, “As journalists, we remain committed to promoting truth, fairness, and responsible reportage that fosters harmony and understanding among our diverse people. Let this sacred season inspire us all to be ambassadors of peace, tolerance and mutual respect.
“On behalf of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, I wish all Muslim and Christian faithful a spiritually rewarding Ramadan and Lenten season.
