Ebonyi Rep Member, Kama Nkemkanma Resigns From Labour Party, Set to Join APC

The lawmaker representing Ohaozara/Onicha/ Ivo Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Kama Nkemkanma has resigned his membership of the Labour Party (LP).

Hon. Kama, a first term member of the National Assembly in a letter addressed to Labour Party Chairman in his Amaeze Ward, Ishiagu in Ivo LGA and dated July 16, 2025 expressed his appreciation to the party for giving him the platform win the election to the National Assembly.

The lawmaker, however, revealed that his decision to leave the party a collective decision of his family and political associates,”

According to him, “after careful consideration, I have come to the conclusion that this step [resignation] for the greater good of our people.” The lawmaker reiterated his “commitment to service. Development and upliftment of the constituency.”

Feelers from the camp of the lawmaker indicate that he has concluded plans to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

It is also expected that the lawmaker will officially write the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Abbas Tajudeen and subsequently announce his defection on the floor of the House.

The House of Representatives is currently on annual recess and expected to resume plenary on September 23, 2025.
