Islamic State West Africa (ISWAP) terrorists have reportedly killed Brigadier General M Uba, the Brigade Commander of Nigerian Army troops fighting insurgents in Borno State.
FACTSHEET reported that ISWAP terrorists ambushed and attacked the roops over the weekend, however, Nigerian Army Acting spokesperson, Lt Col Anele had issued a statement saying that the general had “gallantly” returned his troops to base after a fierce gun battle.
However, several military sources on Monday confirmed that the general was eventually killed after his hiding place was located by terrorists.
At press time no official response has been issued by military authorities or the Nigerian government.
