The Inspector-General of Police, (IGP) Olatunji Disu, has removed the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Benjamin Hundeyin.
The IGP also approved the appointment of DCP Anthony Okon Placid as the new spokesman of the Force.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, DCP Okon Placid who has been described as a seasoned officer who has traversed several areas of law enforcement is a native of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Part of the statement reads:
“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has approved the appointment of DCP Anthony Okon Placid, psc(+), mni, as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO).
“DCP Placid, psc (+), mni, is a seasoned officer of the Nigeria Police Force with extensive experience in administration, operations, intelligence, training, and international peacekeeping.”
DCP Placid joined the police force in 1996 as a cadet assistant superintendent of police and was commissioned in August 1998.
He has held several positions since joining the force, including the police public relations officer for Adamawa State; chief of training at the African Union Mission in Sudan; head of training and development at the United Nations Mission in Darfur; and divisional police officer in Federal Housing, Calabar, and Bakassi.
The newly appointed police spokesperson was born on December 2, 1970, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
According to the statement, Mr Placid holds a Bachelor of Science degree in geography and regional planning from the University of Uyo and a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy (M.A.L.D.) from the University of Jos and studied law at the National Open University of Nigeria for a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.).
