A member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon Ovat Dickson Agbor is reportedly facing suspension over his alleged constant physical assault and battering of his wife.
The lawmaker who represents Obubra State Constituency 1 in the state parliament was alleged to have beaten his with into a state of unconsciousness last week Saturday after he accused the woman of drunkenness and “ sleeping around” with other men.
A sources close to the Cross River State House of Assembly who craved anonymity told FACTSHEET that “ Hon. Agbor is a habitual wife-beater who is ready to pounce on his wife even in the market place.”
The embattled lawmaker has drawn the ire of his colleagues who are said to be preparing to suspend him for “ gross misconduct” and ” conduct unbecoming of a public officer.”
The source further told FACTSHEET that Hon. Agbor after threatening his wife to not speak with the media or his colleagues has now made U-turn pleading that he be forgiven.
The action of the lawmaker is said to have also attracted the attention of the First Lady of Cross River State who has intervened on behalf of the wife of the lawmaker. The First lady is said to be livid with the action of the lawmaker, but has refused to make public statement on the matter.
Corroborating the information, veteran journalist in a series of social media posts confirmed the action of the lawmaker.
One of his posts on Facebook reads:

Still on Dis-honorable Hon Ovat Dickson Agbor
While Governor Otu was in Lagos to receive his Silverbird Man of The Year Award, dis-honorable Ovat Dickson Agbor, representing Obubra 1 Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, went to greet him as he stepped out of his car and the Governor rebuked him and told him he is irresponsible.
Even the first lady of Cross River State, is aware and furious about the habitual beating of Mrs Ovat by her husband. The House is rumored to be considering a special session to suspend him.
In fact, a few weeks ago, he pummeled his wife to a pulp and it was the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, who personally drove to his house in the night and took Ovat’s wife to the hospital.
She was later taken to the house of his colleague, Hon. Martins Achadu, representing Yala 1 constituency to be with his wife for a while, because they are neighbours. By the way, those close to her say she started drinking alcohol because of depression.
Yet, the victim keeps saying, “stay off, we will sort it out.” She even wrote an article today calling me out and saying I am exaggerating what happened between she and her husband. I am even expecting another cyber bullying arrest and suit already.
If they kpai her now, we will all start shouting ‘justice for Mrs Ovat.” We better forestall that now!
