Court Orders Immediate Replacement of Sam Anyanwu as PDP Nat’l Secretary
An Enugu State High Court has ordered the immediate replacement of the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu.
The order of the court was sequel to a motion on notice filed by a member of the party, Nwabueze Ugwu in suit no: E/882/2022 , praying the court to declare vacant Anyanwu’s seat as the National Secretary of the party.
Sen. Anyanwu is the governorship candidate of the PDP in the scheduled November 11, 2023 governorship election in Imo State.
Granting the interim order, the presiding Judge, Justice C. O. Ajah ordered the defendant, ,the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the National Chairman of the PDP, National Secretary of the PDP, and the National Vice Chairman, South-East of the party to immediately recognize, Mr. Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the National Secretary of the party pending the determination of the motion on notice.
Noting that the motion on notice was brought under order 38 rule 1, order 39 rule 1 of High Court rules of Enugu State 2020, Justice Ajah subsequently ordered:
“That an Interim Order is hereby granted as prayed.
“That the 2 Defendant/Respondent is hereby ordered to recognize within 24 hours of the service of this order on him, HON. S.K.E. UDEH-OKOYE (the person recommended by the South East Zonal Executive Committee of the 1” Defendant /Respondent; pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.
“That this Order will lapse after seven (7) days from today in accordance with the Rules of this Court.
“That the matter is adjourned to 30/10/2023 for the hearing of the Motion on Notice.”
Recall that Mr. Ude Okoye had earlier been nominated by the Southeast zonal Executive Committee presided over by the Zonal Chairman, Chief Ali Odefa with the governor of Enugu State, Mr. Peter Mbah and other statutory members in attendance.
