Bill on Diaspora Voting Passes Second Reading in House of Reps

 

A bill to amend the constitution and provide for diaspora voting passed its second reading in the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

The bill, co-sponsored by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen and Sodeeq Abdullahi, aims to amend the 2022 Electoral Act and create opportunities for Nigerians in the diaspora to vote.

The bill had previously passed its first  reading in July and was referred to the Committee on Electoral Matters for further legislative action.

However, after passing the second reading on Tuesday, it has now been referred to the Constitution Amendment Committee for further review
