The Deputy governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Oborawharievwo Ewhrudjakpo, has reportedly died after collapsing in his office earlier on Thursday/
Senator Ewhrudjakpo, 60 collapsed at his Government House office on Yenagoa and was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Yeanago.
Sources close to the Bayelsa State Government told FACTSHEET that the government, official and close associates of the deputy governor are is state “confusion.”
Doubara Atasi, media officer to the deputy governor confirmed to the media that his boss was in the hospital, but declined further comment.
The state government has not officially commented on the incident at press time.

The deputy governor recently declined to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alongside his boss, Governor Duoye Diri, a situation that ignited political disquiet in the government. He later approached a Federal High Court to forestall possible impeachment proceedings against him by members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly who also defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) with the governor.
Before his election was a member of 10th Senate alongside Governor Duoye Diri. He was the commissioner for Works and Infrastructure Bayelsa State throughout the tenure of Senator Seriake Dicson.
He is credited with the building of the Balsa Airport among other numerous infrastructure development in the oil-rich Bayelsa State.
He was born on September 5, 1965 in into the family of Chief and Mrs. Awhowho Ewhrudjakpo in Ofoni at Sagbama.
He was educated at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology Port Harcourt.
