‘Barking Dog’ Made You a Governor, Wike Replies Fubara, Insists 2027 Will Determine Who is Superior

Immediate past governor of River State and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike  on Friday tackled his estranged successor, Governor Siminalyi Fubara over the derisive comments the later made against him.

Governor Fubara had at a New Year banquet held in Port Harcourt on Thursday taken a jab at his Mr. Wike referring to him as a “barking dog.”

Addressing his audience at the banquet. Mr. Fubara had said,  “if you have a dog in your house and it knows you, does it need to bark?”

Reacting to jab, at a separate event in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the state on Friday, Mr. Wike said that, “This dog that’s barking now barked, even when Rivers people didn’t know who the person was and the dog that barked made the person to be governor when others ran away and he’s not afraid that the same dog now is barking. I wish him goodluck.

“We have decided to for Asiwaju Tinubu. There’s no discussion about that, but there’s one we must take a decision. We won’t make the mistake we made last time. We would correct the mistake.

“I heard him say those who worked with Atiku are back. They couldn’t give Atiku 10%. So, what is the political advantage. I won’t call their names, but you all know them.

The FCT minister had in a media chat announced that “I will never support Fubara again” signaling  renewed hostilities in the political fracas that led to the declaration of state of emergency on Rivers State in 2025 and subsequent suspension of governor Fubara from office along side his deputy and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly by President Bola Tinubu.
