The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed concerns over the defection of former governor Nasir El-Rufai to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Speaking to journalists on Monday, the party’s secretary, Yahaya Baba-Pate, stated that the APC remains focused on strengthening its position in the state and securing victory for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in the 2027 elections.
Baba-Pate emphasized that El-Rufai’s departure would not affect the party’s fortunes, highlighting the steady influx of high-profile politicians into the APC. He described the party’s growth as robust and insisted that the defection would not cause any setbacks.
“We are not disturbed and will not lose sleep over El-Rufai’s moves. The APC in Kaduna is growing daily, thanks to our governor’s inclusive governance,” Baba-Pate asserted.
