Amidst Worsening Security, Economy, Tinubu Returns After 2Weeks ‘Private Visit’ to France
President Bola Tinubu on Monday night returned to Abuja after a two-week :private visit” to Paris, France.
The Presidential jet touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja where the Chief of Staff (CoS) to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike among many other top government officials welcomed him back to the country.
The two-week trip to France amidst worsening security and economic crises in the country has elicited serious criticisms from social commentators and members of opposition pollical parties who say that the president was insensitive to the plight of Nigerians.
While President Tinubu was away in France, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger pulled out of the regional economic organization, the Economic Committee of West African States (ECOWAS).
Tinubu is the current Chairman of ECOWAS and his office has not reacted to the development.
Also, while the president was away, the Naira dipped to its lowest ever as it currently exchange’s between N1450 to N1600 to one dollar.
There has also been upsurge in banditry, kidnappings and other violent crimes across the country.
Plateau State, North central Nigeria has been engulfed in ethnic crises with Fulani bandits killing over 100 natives in the Mangu local government area of the state.
