Lawyer and human rights activist, Mr. Dele Farotimi, has been granted bail by the Ekiti State High Court in the sum of N50 million.
The lawyer was arraigned in the court last week by the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police on charges of libelous publication and defamation of character of legal luminary, Chief Afe Bbabalola.
Aside from the N50 million bond, the court also ruled that a surety for the lawyer must be somone who has landed property in Ekiti State.
The matter was subsequently adjourned to January 29, 2025.
Afe Babalola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) had petitioned the police averring that Rotimi defamed him in his newly published book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System
