About 30 people have been reportedly killed while many others are currently unaccounted for when as terrorists in their hundreds invaded a packed village market in Kabe District of Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The bandits according to people living in the area were said to be operating from their base somewhere around the Kainji Lake National Park.
Eyewitnesses told newsmen that the terrorists while shooting in all directions burned down the market and also looted food items and any other items they saw.
The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the incident.
According to the police spokesman, “Over 30 victims lost their lives during the attack, some persons were also kidnapped.”
Speaking further, Abiodun confirmed that, “A joint security team has visited the scene and over 30 victims lost their lives during the attack, some were kidnapped, efforts are ongoing to rescue the kidnap victims.”
