Again, Fulani Herdsmen Attack Benue Community, Kill Four, Several Residents Missing

Suspected armed Fulani herdsmen have again unleashed violence on Otobi-Akpa community in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, killing more than four residents while several others are yet to be accounted for.

 

Reports indicate that the heavily armed assailants invaded the community on inn the early hours Tuesday shooting sporadically and setting houses on fire.

Survivors of the attack recounted the violence and revealed that the attack which started at about 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, left some well known people in the village dead.

Immediately identified victims of the attack include, one Hon. Ochi Ayedu, Eje Uzu, Alinko, and Achibi. It is not clear at press time if some of those missing were abducted by the attackers or are also dead.

This the second time the community will be attacked, in April 2025, armed herdsmen swooped on the community, burnt over 50 houses and killed 15 people with several others suffering bullet and machete wounds.

Both the security agencies and Benue State Government have not officially commented on the latest attack on the North Central state.
