The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has called on party leaders across the country to unite and reposition the party as a credible alternative for national leadership.
Speaking during the party’s 2nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, Mark stressed the need for discipline, unity, and strict adherence to democratic principles as the foundation for the party’s growth and relevance.
He commended members for their loyalty and sacrifices, noting that their unwavering commitment has sustained and strengthened the party despite prevailing challenges.
According to the ADC chairman, the meeting comes at a critical time when Nigerians are yearning for purposeful leadership anchored on fairness and justice. He described the responsibility before the party as not only political but also moral and historic.
Mark urged party leaders to put aside personal ambitions and focus on building a strong, people-oriented platform capable of driving national renewal. He emphasized the importance of expanding grassroots engagement and ensuring inclusiveness across regions, religions, and generations.
Highlighting unity as non-negotiable, Mark called on members to close ranks and intensify consultations to boost confidence in the party’s leadership. He also praised state chairmen for embracing dialogue and consultation, expressing optimism that collective efforts would reposition the party for greater impact.
On national issues, Mark expressed concern over the rising cases of insecurity, kidnapping, and violence across the country, describing the situation as alarming and widespread. He criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) for what he termed its inability to effectively address the country’s security challenges.
However, he assured Nigerians that the ADC is prepared to adopt innovative and people-centered strategies to tackle the nation’s problems and foster a safer, more prosperous society.
Mark also stressed the importance of collaboration with like-minded individuals and groups, noting that strategic partnerships are essential to overcoming Nigeria’s current challenges.
He concluded by encouraging members to approach deliberations with patriotism and a shared vision, expressing confidence that with unity, discipline, and commitment, the ADC will emerge as a strong force capable of leading Nigeria toward progress and stability
